Four Types of Cat Deterriers

Cats are very cute, loved, and not to be mistreated. But, their destructive nature can make your garden a real nightmare. While cats are certainly very cute, particularly when they are on show, it s tough to ignore how irritating it is when a cat has your garden as its litterbox! Cats are quite relentless, and it can take a lot of patience to train them not to use your plants as their toilet. Cats also love to climb up telephone poles and dig holes in the ground to relieve themselves, which makes your flowers and shrubs vulnerable to serious damage. So, how do you get cats to stay away?

Well, firstly, cats have natural prey for elimination in the wild, including birds, rodents, and insects. As such, the best place to try to stop them from eliminating in your garden is by creating a cat-proof perimeter. To do this, plant thorny plants and shrubs around the edges of your lawn, and cover large areas with netting or a solid fence. This will discourage most cats from entering your garden, but it will leave an easy escape route for those cats that find their way into your yard.

Two of the most common devices to keep cats away from your garden are motion sensor and ultrasonic repellents. Motion sensor devices are often used in yards with dense vegetation. These can be very effective at keeping cats away, because they generate an intense burst of sound waves when they move, causing nearby motion sensors to mistakenly trigger off alarm systems or light up. While this can sometimes work to chase away invading cats, many experts recommend that it's best to simply use motion sensor devices wherever they are in the garden. Using an ultrasonic repellent has the same effect, but is much less commonly used.

One of the most commonly used cat repellents on the market today is the Amazon Tiger repellent. The Amazon Tiger is an ultrasonic device that emits a high-frequency sound wave that mimics the sounds that mother cats make, and which almost never reach the frequency range of a cat. It can easily be heard from several miles away and can be purchased at most major home improvement outlets.

Although the Amazon Tiger repellent is commonly used to repel cats, it also works for a whole host of other animals. Other options include the Diamond Viper and the Power Spike devices, both of which are sold at Lowes and Home Depot. Both of these products work well in preventing deer and rodents from getting into your garden.

There are other devices that can be used to deter rabbits, as well. One such product, the Motion Sensor Cat Repellent, uses a high-frequency sound wave that is emitted from a base station and can be heard over thirty miles. The base station can be moved around the yard, giving you very effective coverage even in areas that would previously have been rabbit-proofed. It can easily be installed using a handy cord, and most experts recommend that it should be located as close to the rabbit as possible.

The last of the four types of cat repellent we're going to discuss here is the YouTube cat repellent, which can be bought or simply downloaded from YouTube. The video explains in detail how to set up the unit and how it works. As the description suggests, you can place the YouTube repellent in the same place as the motion sensor, and it will activate when the animal comes within range. The spray, which is about the size of a paintball, is sprayed from above, and like the others can be moved about to get optimal coverage. The disadvantage of this product is that it only works on dogs, not rabbits or squirrels - although the authors claim that this is because they tested the product on dogs, not other mammals.

So, there you have it. Those are our four main types of cat repellents currently available on the market. If you're still wondering what's in them, check out our previous article that explained which of the four to use based on how much risk you want to take and based on whether you want to repel only one specific animal, or whether you want to deter all animals. Using one of the products described here or one of the other alternatives should give you a significantly higher level of protection for your home.
